About

Joanne is an Irish artist and maker working at the intersection of woven textiles and basketry, creating hand crafted vessels and sculptural forms that explore memory, materiality and our connection to the natural world. Her practice draws deeply from the landscape, its textures, colours and seasonal rhythms, preserving and reinterpreting traditional techniques through a contemporary lens.

Following a fifteen year career in textile design, she shifted her focus to working slowly and intentionally with natural materials, creating delicate, expressive baskets that carry an emotional connection to place. Each piece emerges from time spent in nature, where she gathers inspiration from transient moments and transforms them into tactile forms. Joanne’s work seeks to create quiet, contemplative spaces, encouraging viewers to reconnect with nature through its subtle forms and grounded presence.

“I want my work to evoke a sense of being in nature, as if the vessels could be found amongst the flowers in a beautiful garden, before being placed on a mantlepiece to be treasured.”
