About

Helen has worked as a professional ceramicist since 1995 and has gained her reputation through being a skilled plaster model and mould maker, educator and playful artist.
She uses traditional casting techniques in a contemporary way, often combining other disciplines approaches. Her fine porcelain artworks are distinctly different and often full of movement and poise.

“I am predominately led by the making process - aiming to capture that visceral energy in my work and communicate my material skill and imagination in clay. Though the porcelain has the last word.”

Process

Using porcelain and plaster to explore visceral and tactile material surfaces.
Helen creates beautiful and illusionary effects with texture, tones and form. Exploring how material qualities shift with light and capturing movement; engaging with a world of sensory and imaginative landscapes, aiming to silence our overstimulated, digital world; connect and nurture the imagination.
